Chip and Joanna Gaines, the HGTV couple starring in “Fixer Upper,” are so endearing that the nation fell in love with their ability to flip a home, rock the design and construction, and also stay true to their roots. At the core of their success is their adorable love for their family of seven, and their undying obsession with each other…Oh, and that incredible Chip and Joanna Gaines house! I just love seeing love!
They are funny, loving, and talented entrepreneurs who take pride in “Making Waco beautiful, one house at a time.” They have made it so much more attainable to have your own dream home, even if you’re not sporting a star on Hollywood Boulevard!

Where do Chip and Joanna Live?
Let’s face it: successful entrepreneurs who make their money sprucing up and beautifying houses are going to have a home that’s to die for, amiright? Chip and Joanna Gaines house is in Crawford, Texas, on the outskirts of Waco. The, you guessed it, fixer-upper farmhouse estate is situated on 40 stunning acres and started out as a ramshackle disaster.
Chip and Joanna Gaines home was originally built in 1895, but you wouldn’t be able to tell after their year-and-a-half house flip turned the two-bedroom house into a home big enough for all five of their kids with old-country charm from the moment you step on the front porch.
I’m a sucker for a porch, I’m not going to lie, and theirs does not disappoint! Old, weathered plank boards lay the foundation for the porch, which is decked with some wooden rocking chairs and hydrangeas and a set of french doors for an entrance that says “wow!”
When you walk in the door, the aged barn wood furniture says classic Chip and Joanna farmhouse. The kitchen and living room are joined as an open-concept area so that everything seamlessly flows between spaces. There are repurposed items (like Joanna Gaines kitchen island, which was once a communion table) and reclaimed wood everywhere, and I can not get over how cute the kitchen is, with the open cupboards that allow for her taste in fashionable cookware to become another style statement.
Holy master bedroom, people! They’ve got a bed fit for a queen. And a king. And several princes, princesses, dutchesses, and sultans! It is situated under a simple iron chandelier, which is so classy-looking. The fireplace is a beauty, only bested by the floor-to-ceiling brick fireplace located in the sitting room. Joanna Gaines farmhouse paint colors are simple whites and greys, accented by her wood floors and rustic furniture.
Chip’s favorite space turns out to be his boys’ bedroom, which is equipped with four amazing bunk beds so the kids can entertain their friends. The room also features its own en-suite, as does their sisters’ room, and they are designed with practicality and simple fashion in mind.
Chip and Joanna made use of every single space they could, even the attic which became home to a second sitting room and a huge craft room, make that two: one for Joanna and one for the kids. It has plenty of space up there, so much that Joanna incorporated a farmhouse table in the kiddos’ craft room!
They had specific plans for the property and make their land work for them. The property boasts a dream-greenhouse and a one-of-a-kind garden that the family renovated on an episode of the show. It’s truly a beautiful home.
But do Chip and Joanna still live at the farmhouse?
The answer is yes. Before settling into the most prized possession, the couple moved a total of nine times. It’s not a shocker that they’re ready to settle in and stay put.
Oh, and for those of you asking ‘where do Chip and Joanna Gaines live address‘ – first, that’s not proper grammar 😉 – second, you’ll have to visit our celebrity homes app at the link above!
Cottonland Castle
They’ve also bought a stone castle, which they’d made several attempts to purchase over the years. Cottonland Castle, as it is called, was built in 1890 and is in itself a work of art that even features a 9-foot, 400-pound door made of oak at its entrance. We’re sure they’re going to flip it into something amazing while keeping it’s beautiful, royal-worthy charm. It is a full 6,700 square feet and is one of Waco’s iconic landmarks.
Chip and Joanna Businesses
Chip and Joanna Gaines Silos
Out of everything, the two love birds may be most proud of Chip and Joanna Gaines store, Magnolia Market. Her dream was to open up her own store and Chip made sure she wouldn’t give up on this dream, pushing her to make it a reality. When it opened, it was located at a little shop on Bosque, as they called it, until they outgrew that location and moved to Magnolia Silos. We’d call them Chip and Joanna Gaines Silos, even though the general area is called the Silo District in downtown Waco.
It has grown into an amazing shopping and fun-center and reportedly attracts 30,000 visitors per month. Magnolia Market features a full-fledged experience. Kids and their parents can play lawn games outside, learn about gardening at Magnolia Gardens, visit Magnolia Market & Silos Baking Co., and purchase all kinds of home and gardening goods–and baked treats!
Chip and Joanna Gaines Restaurant
Yes, they have a restaurant, too–is called Magnolia Table and features home-grown food, much of it from Joanna’s own garden. They also have a takeout and market area, so you can show up, grab something pre-made, and be on your merry way. It’s a healthy-alternative fast-food! It, too, was a fixer-upper, as the original building was one of Waco’s pride and joys, the Elite Cafe.
Chip and Joanna Gaines Bed and Breakfast
Another successful venture for the Gaines’ is Magnolia House Bed and Breakfast. It’s located on the outskirts of Waco, roughly a half-hour from Magnolia Market, and functions more like a rental cabin in the sense that it isn’t rented by the room, but rather as a whole unit.
The BnB has been so successful that Chip and Joanna opened up another one, the Hillcrest Estate, and just this year they revealed one more, The Carriage House, located directly behind the Magnolia House.
Magnolia Home Furnishings & Magnolia Journal
In addition to Magnolia Home Furnishings, Joanna’s like of home goods in all kinds fo places, including Target and Living Spaces, they have Magnolia Journal, another entrepreneurial enterprise they’ve hit the nail on the head with. It’s a luxury magazine that’s distributed to hundreds of thousands of subscribes. The Journal is the style and inspiration of their next major venture, Magnolia TV.
Magnolia TV Network
In early 2019, after Discovery Communications acquired Scripps Networks (HGTV, DIY, Food Network, Cooking Channel, etc.), it was announced that Chip and Joanna TV network was a real thing!
They have partnered with Discovery to bring the Magnolia Network to TV. It will replace DIY Network and will feature high-end lifestyle programming – not only house flipping, but all types of shows.
Fun Fact! One of our Velvet Ropes co-founder’s is an unscripted TV executive and shared that Chip and Joanna are SUPER hands-on. They reportedly are calling all the shots – any show that gets bought is run by them first. #BossMode
Chip and Joanna Gaines Net Worth
Sitting at a reported 50 million dollar combined net worth, the adorable couple reportedly raked in $30,000 per episode of “Fixer Upper!” They still stay humble, living in their 1,700 square-foot home even though they could probably build a mansion with their fortune. Stay true to your roots, Chip and Joanna, that’s why we love you!
Fixer Upper
HGTV’s home improvement show “Fixer Upper” was something we all fell for. Joanna’s style, coupled with Chip’s goofball vibes and construction expertise set the stage for a series that set the world on fire. The show’s pilot aired in 2013 and was renewed for five seasons of house-flipping fun. Thanks in part to the show, the couple’s popularity and entrepreneurial go-get-it-ness has allowed their businesses to employ over 600 people in and around Waco Texas.
How old are Chip and Joanna Gaines?
The pair, who met in 2003, have children ages 14, 13, 11, 9, and 1. But how old are the two themselves? Joanna is a stunning 46, although there is no way she looks it, and Chip, at 49, has aged like fine wine!
Joanna Gaines Birthday
Joanna’s birthday is April 19, 1978.
Joanna Gaines Children
Joanna Gaines is not only a brilliant interior designer and home remodeler, but also an active and engaged mother of five. Her children, Emmie Kay Gaines, Ella Rose Gaines, Drake Gaines, Duke Gaines, and Crew Gaines, all take part in many of her and Chip’s remodels! It’s a family affair.
How Tall is Joanna Gaines
Joanna is a perfect 5’7” tall…okay, I may be a little biased, since I, too, am the perfect height! Twinsies!
It’s no surprise that this couple has taken the world by storm: they are everyday people who decided to follow their dreams after college and take the necessary risks to allow for big payouts. Success stories like this are what we always hope to see, and it goes to show that hard work and determination do pay off.
Everything Joanna has ever wanted to do, just like with opening The Little Shop at the Bosque, Chip has not only supported but pushed her to tackle and helped however he could. Much of their astounding success can be attributed to their respect for each other and their passion for building each other up. The Gaines are what every couple should strive to be: supportive, hard-working in business and pleasure, and loving.
