Christina Applegate's House: Her Los Angeles Home Since 1995

Christina Applegate has owned one Los Angeles house for three decades. The county record dates her purchase to 1995, two years before Married... with Children ended its 11-season run with her still playing Kelly Bundy, and shows no sale since.

That record belongs to the Los Angeles County Assessor, which carries both the land and the house at a 1995 base year. Under Proposition 13, the 1978 California tax measure, a property's taxable value resets only when it changes hands. A base year that has not moved in 31 years means the county has recorded no sale since.

The kitchen she called god-awful

A flood forced the floors up, People reported in May 2016, and Applegate decided the kitchen would go with them. She told People the old room was “god-awful,” and she gave Domino a blunter verdict: “The ugliest kitchen. Of anyone that I know.” What she talked about most, though, was how the room felt. For “the last 20 years of living in this house,” she told People, the kitchen had been a place she wanted “to get out of as fast as possible.” The designer was Jessica Today, who worked through an online interior design service, and the job was finished that year.

Her own count, 20 years in 2016, lands within a year of the county's 1995 base year.

The January 2025 fires

When fires burned across Los Angeles in January 2025, Applegate had to leave. On the January 14 episode of her podcast, MeSsy, she said she had been evacuated for a few days, that her home was still standing, and that she was staying on constant alert with a backpack of important papers ready to go, People reported that day.
