Lisa Vanderpump's House: Villa Rosa, the Beverly Hills Home She Bought in 2011

Lisa Vanderpump lives at Villa Rosa, the house she and her husband, Ken Todd, bought in September 2011 on a private gated road off Coldwater Canyon. The mail says Beverly Hills. The county says otherwise: the lot sits inside the City of Los Angeles, one of the hillside streets that borrow the 90210 postmark from the city next door. Vanderpump, the English restaurateur who was an original cast member of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills from 2010 to 2019 and has executive produced Vanderpump Rules since 2013, has kept it as her main home for 15 years.

It was a step down in size, on purpose. The couple sold a 17,000-square-foot French chateau in Beverly Park that same autumn, and within a year that house was on the evening news.

Why they left the chateau

Vanderpump explained the move in plain terms when the purchase surfaced in September 2011. Her daughter, Pandora, and son, Max, had “already moved out of the nest,” she said, and with only the two of them left, the chateau was far more house than they needed.

The house they gave up was a white French chateau inside Beverly Park, the guard-gated enclave between Mulholland Drive and Sunset whose lots, like Villa Rosa's, are Los Angeles city land with a Beverly Hills address. It had been the Todd family's stage on Bravo: the chateau appeared in the show's opening credits, and Pandora was married on its grounds in 2011, a wedding the cameras filmed. The agent who sold it was Mauricio Umansky, husband of Vanderpump's castmate Kyle Richards. It closed that fall for about $19M, the figure CBS News, NBC News, and The Hollywood Reporter all carried; Bravo has since reported $29M. The house they moved into stood less than a mile away.

The fire, and Beverly Park's first teardown

On the evening of June 29, 2012, the chateau caught fire. The new owners were out of town and a renovation was under way, and the first call came in around 6:30 p.m.; by seven o'clock the flames had reached the roof. News reports on the fire gave different firefighter counts, from about 100 to as many as 200. Deputy Chief Mario Rueda told CBS Los Angeles the cause looked accidental, likely sparked by the decking work the crews had been doing, and described the access road as difficult and the house as “the size of a supermarket.” A falling beam sent one firefighter to the hospital with minor injuries.

Vanderpump, a few months out of the house, said she was shocked, and emotional about it. “My daughter got married in that house,” she told reporters. She said she would not watch the footage.

The fire did not bring the house down. In November 2013 The Hollywood Reporter reported that the chateau was coming down, the first teardown in Beverly Park's history, a quarter century after the gates went up. According to Pricey Pads, by 2017 the ground was being marketed as a vacant lot with plans approved for a much larger house. Nothing of the Vanderpump years stands there now.

The chateau had one more screen credit left. The aerial shots of the Rose family mansion in the Schitt's Creek pilot were filmed over Vanderpump's old estate, and the show's stars heard it for the first time on Watch What Happens Live. “That is some sleuth research,” Dan Levy said.

The house she softened

Villa Rosa did not start out pink. Abramson Teiger Architects designed it as a stark contemporary for an interior designer's own use, all steel windows and walnut floors, and the Los Angeles County assessor's roll dates it to 2006, on a lot of about 2 acres with a canyon view. At its center, when the Todds bought it, was a two-story library paneled in ebony, set in the atrium as the centerpiece of the house, and a wine cellar built around a dining table.

Vanderpump went to work on the front of the house. The forecourt became a fountain crossed by a wooden bridge, and a glass foyer and two-story additions changed the face the street sees. By its first appearance on Bravo, in the third season of Real Housewives, the network's photo tour moved through a music room where she sings, a pool room, a sleeping suite dressed in petal-pink sheets, and a dressing area set aside for Ken.

The road outside has its own history. It began as a bridle path for guests of the Beverly Hills Hotel and stayed one until the 1940s, and it is still private: according to its owners' association, the residents pave it and light it themselves.

A small farm up the hill

The pond out front belongs to two swans, Hanky and Panky, and the hillside to two miniature horses, Diamonds and Rosé. In May 2019 Jessica Alba, who had bought the house next door in 2017, told Andy Cohen she had never met the animals. “I hear them,” she said, and her toddler son loved the ponies because they made “an exotic sound for a neighborhood.” Alba sold that house in June 2025; its story is on Jessica Alba's former house.

In December 2025 Vanderpump counted seven dogs on the property along with the swans and the horses, and said it felt “like a little farm.” The land is part of why she stays: she told Bravo she doubted a lot zoned inside Beverly Hills proper would let her keep livestock.

The best-known dog is gone. Giggy, the Pomeranian who was a fixture of her Real Housewives years, died on December 12, 2020. Vanderpump credited him with the Vanderpump Dog Foundation, which she started online in 2016 before opening a rescue center in Los Angeles in March 2017.

Still home in 2026

Asked in December 2025 whether she would ever sell Villa Rosa, Vanderpump said, “I can never say never,” and pointed out that she had sold houses before, including a Mediterranean home in France and a London house that went to the Sultan of Brunei. She settled the question in the next breath. “I've got a house in Vegas, but no, my residence is still here.”

The Vegas side of her life has grown since. Caesars Entertainment reopened the Cromwell on the Strip as The Vanderpump Hotel, a 188-room property, on June 11, 2026.

The house itself is about to become a book. Home at Villa Rosa: Cooking and Living the Vanderpump Way, 70 recipes from Workman Publishing, is due on October 13, 2026. Announcing it in April, she called it “an invitation for you all to join me in my family home.” As of September 16, 2026, no sale of Villa Rosa has been reported, and no plan to sell it.
