Zachary Levi's Houses: His Former Bastrop Ranch and Studio City Home

Zachary Levi held about 75 acres near Bastrop, Texas, from 2017 to 2025, the land set aside for Wyldwood Studios, and a 1952 Studio City house before that.

Zachary Levi played the title role on NBC's Chuck from 2007 to 2012. Two of his homes are on the public record. One is a 1952 house in Studio City, the Los Angeles neighborhood he left in 2017. The other is about 75 acres on the Colorado River in Bastrop County, Texas, outside Austin, which he bought that same year and, in May 2025, deeded to the company building Wyldwood Studios, the film campus he is developing.

Both are former homes now. When we first published this page in 2023 we called the Texas land his current home and gave it a house size, a barn and two prices that no record supports. This version starts from the county's own file instead.

The ranch's map pin and full address stay behind the ropes. You'll find them on Zachary Levi's Bastrop ranch profile.

Seventy-five acres outside Austin

Levi tells the story of the move as a land purchase. “Me finding 75 acres outside of Austin, Texas, to buy, to develop, to turn into this magical kind of idea. That's why I left,” he told Fox News in September 2026. Fox dates the move to 2017, the year he sold the Studio City house.

The Bastrop Central Appraisal District, the county office that values land for property tax, has the deed. Its public roll, the list of every property and its value, shows a warranty deed, the document that transfers ownership, into Levi's name on August 31, 2017. The roll measures the tract at a shade under 75 acres, about 57 football fields, and codes it as farm and ranch land with a house on it. Small buildings, decks and porches were added to the roll in 2018, 2019 and 2021, all during his ownership.

He has talked about ranch life in those years. In May 2020 he told Entertainment Tonight he was riding out the pandemic quarantine on his ranch near Austin, grateful for “the other folks who live and work on my property,” and called the place “a little arts commune.”

What our 2023 page got wrong

The old page listed the Texas property as current, gave it a house with an exact floor area and room count and a barn turned clubhouse, and guessed at its value from two price figures we could not tie to this land. None of it survived our check. We could trace none of those figures to a source, and the land left Levi's name in May 2025.

Texas is one of the few states where a sale price never has to be made public. The county file dates both deeds and prices neither, and no outlet we read has named a figure for the 2017 purchase or the 2025 transfer. So this page names none.

Wyldwood Studios

On May 16, 2025, the appraisal district records Levi deeding the land to a company formed for the Wyldwood project. That makes it a transfer to the company behind his own studio, and the roll has listed that company as owner since. What is planned there is a campus, not a house. Community Impact reported in August 2025 that Wyldwood Studios, estimated to cost $100 million, would be built in phases, the first on 45 of the 75 acres, with construction scheduled to start that December and the first two soundstages opening in 2027. A second phase is to add another amphitheater and more lodging, according to Community Impact. Fox News described the whole as “a $100 million film and lifestyle campus” and kept the 2027 date, and the Bastrop Economic Development Corporation wrote in October 2025 that parts of it would open that year. In April 2026 Building Bastrop County called it a “film and creative campus on the Colorado River in Bastrop County.”

Levi's pitch is about who owns the studio. He told Fox he wanted “a new United Artists kind of studio,” one owned and run by the people who make the films.

Bastrop had been studying the idea for years. In August 2020, three years after Levi bought the land, the town's economic development corporation approved a study of whether sound stages could work there. Five years later Community Impact wrote that Wyldwood would become the second studio development active in Bastrop County.

It is private land owned by a company, and none of it is open to visitors.

The Studio City house, 2004 to 2017

Before Texas there was Los Angeles. Levi bought a house in Studio City in 2004, three years before Chuck premiered, and put it up for sale at the end of June 2017, according to Canyon News.

The Los Angeles County Assessor's roll dates the house to 1952. Canyon News described what he left behind in 2017: a spa, a fire pit and a two-level garage.

The roll's base year, the year California resets a property's taxable value, now reads 2022, which usually means a sale. The 2022 base year suggests it changed hands again since. The 2017 sale, the house's size and the map pin sit on the profile of Zachary Levi's former Studio City house.
