Dave Ramsey's House (former)

Franklin, TN

The Story

Dave Ramsey, radio host and personal finance author, built Financial Peace University starting in 1992. His book “The Total Money Makeover” is one of 7 titles that have sold more than 10 million copies combined.

The house sits in Tors of Avalon, the most exclusive section of Franklin’s gated Avalon development, where lots run up to 15 acres and the private courts carry medieval names amid the woods.

Dave paid $1,552,000 for the hilltop lot in Cool Springs on April 2, 2008. Public records show he built three levels into the rise without ever filing a mortgage against the property.

Dave folded two adjacent lots into the property before he ever broke ground on the main house, growing the site well past his original 2008 purchase.

The finished house added a mahogany-lined office, cathedral ceilings, and a basement with a bar and media room. One of the showers alone had 18 shower heads.

Dave listed the house in February 2021 for $15.45 million. He sold it that August for far less, after only 5 of the original 15 acres carried over into the sale.

Dave’s media and publishing company opened its new Franklin headquarters in September 2019, a short drive from the house he still owned then.
