Debra Messing's House (former)

Debra Messing played Grace Adler across the original run of Will & Grace, 1998 to 2006, and won the comedy lead actress Emmy in 2003. She later led Smash and The Mysteries of Laura.

The county roll confirms a 1937 build and carries a 1975 effective year, the marker an assessor uses when a remodel resets a building's age. Nothing has reset its assessed base year since 2013.

Its architect was Paul Revere Williams. He was the first Black member of the American Institute of Architects and later its first Black Gold Medalist, over a practice of nearly 6 decades and some 3,000 projects.

Alphonzo Bell filed Bel-Air's first 128 lots in 1923 and had his wife name the streets in Italian. The Bel Air Association names Williams, Wallace Neff, and Roland Coate among the architects behind its early estates.

Messing bought the house from Renée Zellweger in 2003 for $7M and kept it for a decade, living here with her then husband, Daniel Zelman, and their son Roman.

Zellweger sold in 2003, the year Cold Mountain came out and earned her an Academy Award. She had come off Chicago the year before.

Messing put the house on the market in the middle of January 2013 and had a buyer inside a month. NBC News reported the close at the end of February.
