Paul Revere Williams, LA’s pioneering Black architect, designed this Colonial Revival house in 1940 for the comedian Leon Errol. Variety described the exterior as rough shingles and stone facing.

The county roll dates the house to 1940 and records it across 2 lots of its tract, held as 1 parcel. Its 2026 value still rests on a 2019 base year, so no sale has followed.

William Holden, the Oscar winner from Stalag 17, owned the house from 1947 to 1959, according to Toluca Lake Magazine. He lived here with his wife, actress Brenda Marshall, and their 3 children.

Ronald Reagan and Nancy Davis married on March 4, 1952, at the Little Brown Church in the Valley, not here. The Holdens hosted the dinner and cake-cutting here afterward, and the Reagan Library keeps the photo.

Washington bought the estate in 1988 and kept it for 12 years, the stretch that took in Malcolm X and Philadelphia. In 2000 he sold it to TV writer-producer Brenda Hampton.

Hampton, the creator of 7th Heaven, kept the house for 19 years, longer than Holden or Washington. She put it on the market in March 2019, according to Variety.
