Denzel Washington's 15 Central Park West Home

A two-tower limestone condominium facing Central Park near Columbus Circle, completed in 2008. Oscar winner Denzel Washington bought here in 2006, and the staffed lobby is private, so look from the park.

The Real Deal credits the design to architect Robert Stern’s firm with SLCE Architects, for developers Arthur and William Zeckendorf. Its 2007 report listed Washington among the building’s future celebrity residents.

Washington’s June 2006 purchase pushed the building’s condominium sales past $1B, the New York Observer reported in 2007. The Zeckendorfs marked the milestone with a “Billion-Dollar Bash.”

That Observer piece, by Michael Gross in July 2007, a year before the towers were finished, is the earliest press account of the purchase we have traced.

Gross returned to the subject in 2014 with a whole book, House of Outrageous Fortune, from Atria. It calls the building the world’s most powerful address and names Washington among its residents.

Later coverage, including 6sqft and CBS New York, has named Washington as a resident alongside Sting, Bob Costas, Norman Lear, Jeff Gordon, Lloyd Blankfein, and Robert De Niro.
