Harlan Howard's House (former)

A 1948 house with a shed-roof porch on 7.66 wooded acres in Forest Hills, south of Nashville. Songwriter Harlan Howard once owned it, a tie that survives only on a state historical survey card.

Howard wrote more than 4,000 songs, including “I Fall to Pieces,” “Busted,” and “Heartaches by the Number.” He moved to Nashville in June 1960 and entered the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1997.

Thomason & Associates surveyed the house for the Tennessee Historical Commission in 2000, noting its original 1948 multi-light entrance door. The card lists Howard among its owners, alongside Murray Johnson and the Wades.

Metro parcel records call the lot part of the Mary Nelson Wade property, matching the survey's owner chain. The owners today already held it in 2000, so Howard sold before his 2002 death.

A private residence on a public road in the City of Forest Hills. Trees may block much of the house from view, so look from Otter Creek Road only and never enter the drive.
