The single-story ranch dates to the 1950s. It sits at the end of a long private drive, on a slope that runs down to the greens of a private country club.

New housing tracts opened in Pasadena’s San Rafael and Linda Vista areas in the mid-1940s and early 1950s, relieving a postwar shortage. The Colorado Street Bridge had connected them to the city since 1913.

Garth bought in October 2019, having sold an equestrian compound of more than 6 acres near Los Olivos, up in the Santa Ynez Valley.

She wanted a house that was already finished, and this one had been redone by a designer. Letting go of the renovating took some getting used to.

The golf course closed the deal. “The selling point for me and my husband was the fact that it’s on a golf course,” she told Architectural Digest in 2019.
