Jimmy Kimmel's House (former)

Late-night host whose ABC show has carried his name since January 2003, after runs on KROQ radio and Comedy Central’s The Man Show. He has hosted the Oscars 4 times, most recently in 2024.

The house went up in 1947, and the Los Angeles Times described it as Hollywood Regency. A floor-to-ceiling leaded-glass bay window and a run of oval leaded-glass windows carry the period detail.

County assessor records keep the 1947 build date but give the house an effective year of 1956, the assessor’s signal of a major update within its first decade. The same record logs the lot’s city view.

Lake Hollywood, the reservoir a short drive east, was finished on Christmas Eve 1924. At its dam’s dedication the next March, Mayor Cryer was joined onstage by Strongheart, a canine movie star.

Kimmel bought the place in 2002, the year before his late-night show premiered, and kept it for 12 years. He converted one of its rooms into a sound studio with its own recording booth.

He sold in 2014 through Partners Trust. The Los Angeles Times coverage of the sale singled out the view from the knoll, which takes in Griffith Observatory and the Hollywood Sign.

His show tapes in the former Hollywood Masonic Temple, down the hill in Hollywood. Despite its title, it has not aired live as a rule since April 2004, when censors could not keep up with a guest’s profanity.
