JonBenet Ramsey's House (former)
Boulder, CO
The Story
JonBenét Ramsey was a 6-year-old child pageant contestant when she was killed in this house on December 26, 1996. Nearly 30 years later, no one has been charged.
Boulder’s public parcel record, built from county assessor data, dates the house to 1927. In October 2026 it still named the couple who bought it in 2004 as the owners.
The red-brick Tudor grew through several expansions, including a large third-floor addition by the Ramseys, CandysDirt reported in 2023. Later owners put up a gated brick and iron fence.
John and Patsy Ramsey bought the house in 1991, according to county records cited by CBS Colorado. They sold it in 1998, about 2 years after JonBenét’s death.
The 1998 buyers were investors who pledged to give their resale profits to the JonBenét Ramsey Children’s Foundation. The couple who bought it in 2004 has tried to sell it off and on since 2008.
In July 2008, Boulder County District Attorney Mary Lacy wrote to John Ramsey that new DNA testing had cleared the family. She apologized for any part her office played in public suspicion of them.
In December 2025, Boulder police said they had tested new evidence and reinterviewed people tied to the investigation, KUSA reported. The department said the killing is still a top priority.
