Justin Bieber's House (former)

Canadian pop singer found on YouTube as a teenager, whose 2010 single “Baby” made him a worldwide star. His 2015 album Purpose produced 3 chart-topping singles on the Billboard Hot 100, including “Love Yourself.”

The Los Angeles County Assessor dates the house to 1952. Its parcel sits in a City of Los Angeles tax rate area, even though TMZ filed Bieber’s stay under West Hollywood.

Before Bieber, the house belonged to Scooter Braun, the manager who found him on YouTube. Braun sold it in 2015 to developer Nile Niami, Bieber’s later landlord, who reworked it, according to the Los Angeles Times.

USModernist, an online archive of modernist houses, credits the remodel to architect Paul McClean and dates it 2017. It files the job under Braun’s name, although he had sold the house 2 years earlier.

Bieber rented here and never owned the place. TMZ reported in February 2018 that he had leased it for about $55,000 a month, roughly what he had paid for a much bigger Beverly Hills rental.

TMZ framed the move as a downsize, but the house came with a home theater, an infinity pool looking out over Los Angeles, and a main closet designed to evoke a DJ booth.

Sunset Plaza, the shop row on the Strip below, grew out of 230 open acres that Victor Ponet bought in 1892. His son-in-law Francis Montgomery developed it in the mid-1920s, and the family still ran it in 1997.
