LeBron James is the NBA’s all-time leading scorer and a 4-time champion with Miami, Cleveland, and Los Angeles. He won the first 2 of those titles, in 2012 and 2013, during his 4 seasons with the Heat.

James bought the house in November 2010, 4 months after announcing on live TV that he was leaving Cleveland for Miami. The deed went to an LLC tied to his LRMR marketing company, according to CBS Miami.

County records date the house to 2010, the year James bought it. It sits on 2 platted lots merged into 1 parcel, and the land alone carries nearly 65% of the county’s 2026 value for the property.

The county’s sales history on the land runs back to 1975, with more deals in 1996 and 2005 before this house went up. After James, 2 more owners bought it, in 2021 and 2023.

James put the house up for sale in October 2014, 3 months after announcing his return to Cleveland. The buyers, a married couple of Florida property investors, had been renting it since June 2015.

According to ESPN, that couple had sold a house once owned by Heat center Alonzo Mourning before moving in here. The sale closed on August 25, 2015, nearly 5 years after James bought it.

In 1925, 87% of Coconut Grove voters opposed joining Miami, and Miami annexed it anyway on the surrounding communities’ majority vote. A 2014 visioning plan set a goal of the Grove governing itself by 2030.
