Leonardo DiCaprio's House

Leonardo DiCaprio broke out as a teenager in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape and became a global star with Titanic in 1997. He won the best actor Oscar for The Revenant in 2016.

The county roll dates the house to 1968, on a hillside tract where most neighboring houses went up in the 1960s. Its effective year of 1999 points to a major update around that time.

The LA Street Names project credits developer Cooley Butler with founding the Bird Streets in 1924. His wife, LaRue, chose the names, the project says, as a nod to the bird’s-eye views over the city.

Elle Decor and House Beautiful say DiCaprio bought the house from Madonna, his first Hollywood property. Fox News coverage of a 2007 neighbor lawsuit called it a home he rented.

The county roll shows a document recorded in 2021 that redrew the parcel, joining the house’s lot with part of a lot in the adjoining tract.

The Linclaus next door sued in Los Angeles Superior Court in May 2007, saying excavation for his basketball court weakened the hillside under their deck and pool. They later settled out of court for an undisclosed sum.

In December 2022 he bought the Linclaus’ midcentury house in an off-market deal, according to SheKnows. That brought his Bird Streets compound to 4 houses and 4 pools on 5.14 acres.
