Leonardo DiCaprio's House

Leonardo DiCaprio rose from Titanic in 1997 to The Revenant, the role that won him the best actor Oscar in 2016. He started his environmental foundation in 1998.

DiCaprio bought his first apartment here in 2008. The developer’s president confirmed the sale to the Associated Press that April, with move-in set for that summer.

In 2014 he bought the apartment next door, with a large terrace of its own. A 2024 Hearst roundup of his homes says he still holds both.

City deed records show both units went to the same LLC, in October 2008 and January 2014. No deed moving either one out of it has been recorded since.

This ground was Hudson River until the 1970s, when fill from the World Trade Center excavation and dredged riverbed built Battery Park City. Its authority set its own green rules for new housing in 2000.

Ennead Architects designed the tower to beat those rules, with solar power, green roofs, and filtration and recycling systems. The firm calls it Battery Park City’s first LEED Gold building.

Rockefeller Park opened in 1992 on the same landfill, as the north end of the 1.5-mile Esplanade. Look for Tom Otterness’s The Real World sculptures and a pedal-powered carousel.
