Mark Zuckerberg's Palo Alto House

The Crescent Park house Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg bought for $7M in 2011. By 2025 it was the first of at least 11 homes he had bought in the neighborhood.

The house has roots in an 1866 Victorian cottage and was restored in 2007. Forbes says a physician razed and rebuilt it in 1903; the Almanac says it was remodeled and expanded over time.

Zuckerberg paid over $30M for the 4 houses around it between December 2012 and October 2013 and leased them back, CNBC reported. Robb Report put his Palo Alto holdings by then at over $43M.

In September 2016 the city’s Architectural Review Board voted 3 to 1 to recommend denying demolition of the 4 neighboring houses. The filing named 4 LLCs and an architecture firm, not Zuckerberg.

Fortune and the Palo Alto Daily Post tie those LLCs to Zuckerberg. After the denial, they report, he scaled back to replacing 2 of the houses with single-story homes that needed no board review.

The Almanac covered the sale in May 2011, crediting the Mercury News with breaking it. Palo Alto Weekly later reported the mayor and vice mayor’s December 2025 proposal to rein in his expansion.
