Ozzy & Sharon Osbourne's Welders House (former)

A Grade II listed red-brick house in Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire, beside the Quaker village of Jordans. It was the English home of Black Sabbath singer Ozzy Osbourne and his wife, Sharon.

The architect Mervyn Macartney built the house in 1898 to 1899 for his father-in-law Ritchie, who later served as Home Secretary and then Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Historic England has listed the house at Grade II since July 30, 1984. Its entry records red brick, 2 stories with gabled attics, and an Artisan Mannerist design.

In March 2005 Ozzy and Sharon fled a fire that started in the house’s living room. CBS News reported 3 people treated for minor smoke inhalation and a suspected electrical fault.

Ozzy died at the family home near Chalfont St Giles on July 22, 2025, aged 76. Billboard and Rolling Stone, citing his death certificate, listed cardiac arrest, coronary artery disease, and Parkinson’s disease.

NME and Heart, both relaying The Sun and the Daily Mail, said Ozzy was buried in the grounds by the lake after a private ceremony at the end of July 2025.

Those same reports, as carried by Heart and NME, date the Osbournes’ purchase of the house to 1993. No public record in our file confirms the year.

The earliest public record we found tying the family to the house is at Companies House: Sharon Osbourne, appointed a company director in November 1999, gave it as her correspondence address.

The house sits behind gates and trees, out of sight, and is still a private home, so do not approach. Head for Jordans instead: its Quaker meeting house and William Penn’s grave.
