Samuel L Jackson is among the highest-grossing actors in film history, with credits stretching from Do the Right Thing to the Marvel films. His Jules Winnfield in Pulp Fiction brought an Oscar nomination in 1995.

The house went up in 1987, in the first wave of construction behind the Beverly Park gates. The parcels next to it carry build years of 1986, 1988, and 1990, per county records.

Architectural Digest reports the first owner was a British lord who paid over $7M for the place and put another $3M into a remodel. The magazine does not name him.

Jackson and his wife, LaTanya Richardson Jackson, bought it in 2000 from Roseanne Barr and her then husband Ben Thomas, according to Architectural Digest.

The county still assesses the parcel off a base year of 2000. Under California's Proposition 13, a base year only resets when a property changes hands or is rebuilt, so the roll shows no sale since.

Los Angeles building records log a permit issued on July 26, 2021 for 2 new balconies off the back of the house. The work was valued at $50,000.

Architectural Digest describes a tennis court, a pool, and a synthetic putting green on the grounds. Jackson told the New York Times in 2017 that every film contract he signs lets him golf twice a week.
