Selena Gomez's House (former)
Los Angeles, CA
The Story
Singer and actor who starred on the Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place from 2007. “Lose You to Love Me” gave her a first Hot 100 chart-topper in 2019, months before she bought this house.
Tom Petty’s earlier house on this lot burned on May 17, 1987, and the Los Angeles Fire Department ruled it arson. Petty, his wife, Jane, their 5-year-old daughter, and their housekeeper all got out.
Only the basement studio came through, and Petty answered the attack with “I Won’t Back Down” on 1989’s Full Moon Fever. He told Paul Zollo in a 2005 book that the family was “shaken for years by it.”
Petty rebuilt on the same site, and the county roll dates the present house to 1989. Nearby lots in the same tract still hold houses built in the early 1920s.
Jane Benyo kept the house in the couple’s 1996 divorce, and it was later foreclosed on. Developers bought it from the bank and spent 11 months on a top-to-bottom overhaul, the rock news site UCR reported in 2018.
Gomez bought it in March 2020 from Grammy-winning producer Randy Spendlove. The first reports of the sale, that month, did not name the buyer.
The kitchen here was the set for her cooking series Selena + Chef, according to TMZ. Gomez sold the house in September 2026, about a year after marrying producer Benny Blanco.
