Steve Harvey's House

Atlanta, GA

The Story

Stand-up from the Original Kings of Comedy tour turned fixture of daytime television: Family Feud since 2010, a syndicated morning radio show, and several years hosting Miss Universe. He has been married to Marjorie since 2007.

The land along the Chattahoochee was once the home of Moreton Rolleston, who owned the Heart of Atlanta Motel and lost his Supreme Court fight against the Civil Rights Act in 1964. Tyler Perry called owning it “poetic justice.”

Perry bought the tract in 2005 by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s account at the time, 2007 by TMZ’s, razed the old house, and built the French provincial estate while Rolleston kept suing to stop his crews.

In March 2012 Perry hosted a $35,000-a-plate dinner here for President Obama, about 40 guests by ABC News’s count, with Oprah Winfrey seated at Perry’s table in what ABC called a “cavernous Chateau-style home.”

Perry sold in 2016 to evangelist David Turner, then called Atlanta’s priciest single-home sale. Turner relisted within 2 years, shooting his Jesus Live TV web network from the house while it sat on the market.

Steve and Marjorie Harvey bought it from Turner in May 2020, first reported by TMZ. The Fulton County roll still titles it to Harvey’s own revocable trust and Marjorie, with their mailing address at the estate.

Harvey has said on Club Shay Shay that he hesitated in the first weeks of the pandemic, so Marjorie put the deal together, writing the seller a letter that said “This is not a negotiation.”
