Sylvester Stallone's House (former)
La Quinta, CA
The Story
Sylvester Stallone wrote and starred in Rocky, the 1976 boxing film that won Best Picture, then built a second franchise around John Rambo. In 2022, at 76, he took the lead in the TV drama Tulsa King.
The villa is Mediterranean and Tuscan in style, 2 stories tall. The agent who sold it in 2020 singled out the creek that runs through the backyard past the pool, spa, and fire pit.
Behind terracotta walls and a red tile roof, a barrel-vaulted foyer leads into a living room 32 feet long under a double-height ceiling.
Stallone bought it in 2010, 2 years after it was built, taking title through a trust.
Variety dated his first try to sell to 2011, a year after he bought it, though Page Six counted the first attempt from 2014. The house came on and off the market for most of a decade.
The last try took less than a week. The house went back on the market in May 2020, and Cottages & Gardens reported a close below the new price, at a loss on his 2010 purchase.
Riverside County's roll backs up the sale: the parcel's tax base was reset in 2020, the mark a change of ownership leaves under California's Proposition 13. The county classes the house Residential Exceptional.
