Sylvester Stallone's House (former)
Miami, FL
The Story
Sylvester Stallone wrote and starred in Rocky in 1976, then played Rocky Balboa and John Rambo for 4 more decades. Rocky won Best Picture and earned him nominations for both writing and lead acting.
Stallone bought this Biscayne Bay estate near Coconut Grove in 1993 and sold it in 1999, according to Allociné and Palm Beach Daily News. Allociné said his rework cost more than the purchase.
Miami-Dade County's property roll dates the main house to 1972 and counts 6 buildings on the parcel. The 2026 roll puts almost all of its value in the bayfront land rather than the buildings.
Architectural Digest's 1997 tour of the house showed a Francis Bacon canvas in the living room, Spanish writer Juanjo Villalba found in 2022. He traced it to a museum collection in Lisbon.
Villalba concluded the painting was sold off around the 1999 sale, with most of the house's decorative pieces. Its provenance had listed the owner only as a private California collection.
In 1997 Stallone and his bayfront neighbors asked Miami's city commission to let them close a gate across a public footpath, citing crime. Miami New Times pulled police figures showing few crimes on the stretch itself.
Allociné reported in 1999 that the Orient-Express group's plan to turn the estate into a hotel had collapsed after neighbors protested. Stallone, married in 1997, wanted a simpler family life, the outlet said.
