Legends Corner

A working honky-tonk on Lower Broadway, steps from the Ryman, open since 1996 or 1997. By trial record, the man convicted in the 1998 Skull's Rainbow Room killing washed up here the next morning.

David “Skull” Schulman died after an attack in his Printers Alley club on January 21, 1998. James Charles Cavaye was convicted of murder in 2001; co-defendant Jason Pence, the lone eyewitness, recanted in 2025.

By the trial record, Cavaye and Pence walked into Legends Corner the next morning so Cavaye could wash up. The bar's morning janitor testified Cavaye was limping, with blood on his clothes.

After an America's Most Wanted reenactment, a Legends Corner bartender called police about 2 men she had seen: one had changed his look, the other limped. Detective Al Gray found Pence at the downtown library.

WKRN first aired the Legends Corner tie in early 2000; the 2002 appeals opinion names the bar 3 times. In November 2025 the Tennessean reported Pence's recantation; no petition to reopen had been filed.

Open daily from 10 in the morning to 3 the next morning, no cover, 21 and up after 6 at night. Nothing inside marks the 1998 story; the stop is the bar itself.
