Green Hills Mall

The upscale mall that anchors Green Hills, 5 miles south of downtown Nashville. Nordstrom, Dillard’s, and Macy’s hold the corners; Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Saint Laurent fill the court.

It opened in 1955 as Green Hills Village, an open-air strip drawn up by Nashville developers William Weaver Jr. and W.H. Criswell, with Castner Knott and Gus Mayer as the planned anchors.

The anchor nameplates tell the city’s retail history: Nashville’s own Cain-Sloan became Dillard’s in 1987, and Castner Knott passed through Proffitt’s and Hecht’s before becoming Macy’s in 2006.

Tennessee’s first Nordstrom opened here in 2011, next to Dillard’s at the entrance facing Abbott Martin Road; Simon Property Group took full control in November 2025, buying out previous owner and manager Taubman Centers.

Ask the sales floor: one Livability writer’s brother logged Alan Jackson, Taylor Swift, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, and both halves of Brooks & Dunn during 2 years working the mall.

When Chrisley Knows Best moved to Nashville, season 4 filmed at a juice bar on Green Hills Village Drive that the show framed as a family venture. Whether the Chrisleys owned it is disputed.

The Bluebird Cafe sits in a strip mall down Hillsboro Pike from here. Label executive Scott Borchetta heard teenage Swift there in 2004, the night that led to her Big Machine deal.
