Uncommon James

The Story
Kristin Cavallari was 17 when Laguna Beach made her a reality star. Uncommon James is the jewelry brand she started in April 2017, and its flagship store sits here in the Gulch.
The surrounding Gulch was mostly parking lots in the early 2000s. By February 2009, the rebuilt district was certified as a LEED green neighborhood, the first in the American South.
The brand’s first-ever store opened in the Gulch in late March 2018, with 14-karat gold-plated jewelry and copper Moscow mule mugs on the shelves. The same space doubled as company headquarters.
The 2nd store opened in Chicago’s West Loop in October 2019, and Cavallari and then-husband Jay Cutler came for the opening party. Dallas and Charleston followed; Nashville remains the flagship.
Cavallari’s reality series premiered on July 8, 2018, built around the store’s launch and its staff. She ended the show in 2020, after 3 seasons and 30 episodes.
The Station Inn has been a bluegrass room since 1974. It holds its spot on 12th Avenue South while the rebuilt Gulch towers around it.
