Price: $4.99

Five hours of the bloodiest ground in Tennessee, walked in the order it happened. On November 30, 1864, the Battle of Franklin killed or wounded roughly 10,000 men in five hours, and the town had nowhere to put them but its own parlors. This route starts at the hall Andrew Jackson used to negotiate the Chickasaw removal, follows Columbia Avenue down to the two houses that sat in the middle of the fighting, and ends at the plantation where four dead Confederate generals were laid out on the back porch and 1,500 men are still buried in the side yard. Every house on it is a working museum you can walk into. Every claim is sourced, and the legends are labeled as legends.

How a self-guided tour works

  1. Open the guide. The stop carousel starts in Browse mode, so swipe the stops or tap a pin. If you refresh mid-tour, Tour Mode picks up where you left off.
  2. Tap Start Tour. On a guide you own, the cards switch to Tour Mode and each card carries Info and Nav. Info opens the stop's story.
  3. Tap Nav. Your own maps app takes over: Apple Maps on iPhone, your maps app on Android, Google Maps on desktop. One stop at a time, with no in-app turn-by-turn, route or arrival time.
  4. Move on. A stop counts as visited once you tap Nav on it and then move past it. On the last stop the button reads Completed Tour, which ends Tour Mode and returns you to Guides.

  • What happens after I buy?

The guide is yours. Every stop's address unlocks on its card and on the List screen, and Start Tour takes the place of the Unlock button.

  • Do I have to go in order?

No, but the route follows the battle in the order it happened, so it reads best from the first stop.

  • What if I can't finish in one visit?

  • Is there a live guide?

No. This is a self-guided tour. Your phone carries the stories and your own maps app gives the directions.

  • What if I want a refund?
