Adam Lambert's House (former)

Adam Lambert placed second on American Idol in 2009 and has fronted Queen live since 2011. His album Trespassing made him the first openly gay artist to enter the Billboard 200 at No. 1.

The house went up in 1947, well after the hillside around it was first cut into lots. The assessor still files the parcel under the tract name Cielo Vista Terrace.

Cielo Vista was the name of the 500-acre Harper estate centered where Sunset and Laurel Canyon boulevards now cross, and the Homestead Museum dates its subdivision to 1921.

The county tax roll puts this parcel in the City of Los Angeles, not in the City of West Hollywood, even though the mailing address reads West Hollywood. Every parcel on the block reads the same way.

Adam bought the place in 2014 for $2.995M and sold it in 2020 for $2.92M, about $75,000 behind where he started after 6 years.

It took 3 years and 3 price cuts to move: $3.995M in 2017, $3.595M in 2019, then $3.35M in February 2020.

Sunset Boulevard marks West Hollywood's northern edge, and the city itself is young: its residents voted the place out of unincorporated Los Angeles County in 1984.
