Al Pacino's House
Palisades, NY
The Story
Al Pacino played Michael Corleone in all 3 Godfather films, from 1972 to 1990. The South Bronx-raised actor has 9 Oscar nominations and 1 win: Best Actor for Scent of a Woman, handed over in 1993.
The house went up in 1971, and New York’s tax parcel record classes its style as contemporary. It stands on a parcel of a little under 1 acre.
The hamlet’s older name, Snedens Landing, comes from the ferry the Sneden family ran on the Hudson from the mid-1700s into the 1900s. Molly Sneden, the loyalist widow who worked it, lived to 101.
NYC&G magazine named Pacino among the hamlet’s high-profile homeowners in 2012, on “steep and twisty streets” it called quiet most of the time. In October 2024, 6sqft was still naming him among the enclave’s celebrities.
The 2025 roll shows title held by a limited liability company with a California mailing address, under a deed recorded that year. We found no report of a sale, so we still count the house as his.
In the 1920s sculptor Mary Tonetti made an art colony of the 16-odd houses she owned in Palisades, per the Hudson River Valley Institute. She rented to artists, writers, and actors for $15 to $20 a month.
