Alex Rodriguez & Jennifer Lopez's House

Los Angeles, CA

The Story

Alex Rodriguez hit 696 home runs in the major leagues before moving into broadcasting. Jennifer Lopez, his fiancée when she bought this house, is the Bronx-born singer and actor behind “Jenny from the Block” and Hustlers.

Los Angeles County assessor records date the house to 1948, one of 45 on its 61-lot tract built that year. The county's 2026 roll still carries the 2020 base year set when Lopez bought it.

According to Cottages & Gardens, a house flipper redid the place in January 2020, months before Lopez bought it. By the sale, solar panels lined its red tile roof.

Lopez closed in June 2020 through a trust she had used on earlier deals, per Cottages & Gardens. Dirt read the deeds the same way: on paper the house was hers alone, not the couple's.

Coverage at the time never settled why Lopez wanted a modest Valley house. Dirt and Architectural Digest both guessed at a relative or an investment, and a 2024 roundup of her homes still called its purpose unclear.

Lopez and Rodriguez called off their engagement in April 2021, less than a year after the closing. They told NBC's Today they were “better as friends.”

Encino's rancho past survives at Los Encinos State Historic Park, where the 1849 de la Ossa adobe and Eugene Garnier's 1872 limestone house still stand. Franciscan padres camped on the site before founding Mission San Fernando in 1797.
