Amy Schumer's House (former)

New York, NY

The Story

Stand-up comic who broke out with Inside Amy Schumer, the Comedy Central sketch show that won the 2015 Emmy for outstanding variety sketch series. That same year she wrote and starred in the film Trainwreck.

The building is a limestone and buff brick Beaux-Arts apartment house, built 1909 to 1910 to designs by Townsend, Steinle & Haskell. It has stood inside a city historic district since December 19, 1989.

Spivak Architects designed the apartment, wrapping its main living space in glass walls that fold open onto a terrace on 3 sides, according to the firm’s own project write-up.

Schumer bought it through a trust in October 2016, per NYC deed records, from a developer’s company that had taken title in 2012. It closed a little over a year after Trainwreck opened.

She told The Wall Street Journal it was her “Manhattan dream apartment.” Per Cottages & Gardens, she redecorated with Clements Design while expecting her son, and she and chef Chris Fischer raised him here.

She put it up for sale in May 2022 and told the Journal the family was likely moving to Brooklyn, to be closer to their son’s school, as 6sqft reported.

It sold in April 2023 after more than 300 days on offer, by West Side Rag’s count. The same site reported in January 2026 that she had bought another Upper West Side apartment the year before.
