Anderson Cooper's House (former)
Westhampton Beach, NY
The Story
Anderson Cooper has anchored CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360 since 2003 and reports for 60 Minutes on CBS. His mother was the designer and heiress Gloria Vanderbilt.
Southampton’s 2025 assessment roll dates the house to 1992. The Southampton Press said the cottage went up in 1928 as a sporting club for a nearby estate, most likely for duck and goose shooters.
Quiogue, pronounced KWY-og, means “Little Quogue,” a name the Westhampton Beach Historical Society credits to the Native Americans who lived here. Southampton’s town records first use it in 1707.
This was Cooper’s main Hamptons house. At the end of 2011 he also bought the cottage next door, the former home of On the Waterfront screenwriter Budd Schulberg.
Cooper put the cottage up for sale in July 2014 and had a buyer in contract by October, Dan’s Papers reported, as he left the Hamptons for a new place in Litchfield, Connecticut.
The New York Post reported the closing in February 2015, about 7 months after Cooper first put the cottage up for sale.
