Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt's House (former)

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are two of the biggest film stars of the past 30 years, she an Oscar winner for Girl, Interrupted, he for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Claude Alexandre Le Baron bought the lot in 1827 and built here within about 3 years, per the Vieux Carré Survey. A 1988 job restored the lost front openings and balcony.

Wholesale grocers held the building from January 1923. Cosimo Matassa, the recording engineer, bought it in May 1965, and the survey records it then in use as offices for a recording studio.

A Closer Walk NOLA puts Matassa's studio at this address and the 2 doors beside it from 1956. It cut Ernie K-Doe's Mother-in-Law, a national pop chart number 1 in 1961.

A developer bought this row in the early 1970s and sued the city for a demolition permit. The courts threw the suits out, and the survey shows the buildings standing.

A trust called Mondo Bongo bought the place in cash on January 2, 2007, while Pitt was shooting his Benjamin Button film in the city. Neither actor was named in the transaction.

The couple sold on October 28, 2016, closing out nearly 10 years of ownership. Pitt had spent much of it on the Make It Right Foundation, rebuilding houses in the Lower 9th Ward.
