The house went up in 2001, late for its tract. County records date most of its neighbors to 1982 to 1991, and only 8 of the tract’s 105 parcels carry a later build year.

Britney agreed to buy the Mediterranean-style house in December 2006, after splitting from Kevin Federline, Hello magazine reported. She bought the furniture too, and the seller moved to the Beverly Hills Hotel so she could move in.

The gate was the draw: “It’s a gated community where the tour buses won’t be stopping at your front door,” agent Kurt Rappaport told Hello in 2007. Its terrace looked out over Los Angeles.

A court placed Britney under a conservatorship in 2008, while she still lived here. That meant the 2012 sale needed a probate judge’s approval, at a hearing where anyone could overbid the buyer, TMZ reported.

Her conservators priced it low to start a bidding war, according to IBTimes, and the winning offer beat that price by more than $1M. The overbid hearing was then called off, and she still sold at a loss.

Douglas Elliman brokers Josh and Matt Altman represented the sellers in the house’s next sale, in early 2021. It came 3 days after the documentary Framing Britney Spears premiered, Fox Business reported.
