Charles Kelly's House (former)
Nashville, TN
The Story
Charles Kelley co-founded Lady Antebellum in 2006 and sang lead on “Need You Now,” which took Record of the Year at the 2011 Grammys. The group renamed itself Lady A in 2020.
The parcel's legal description still reads “PT BLK D BELLE MEADE SUB NO 2,” placing the lot in Block D of the old Belle Meade subdivision. Its tax district is Belle Meade, not Nashville.
Belle Meade incorporated as its own city in 1938 to set strict zoning. A 2003 National Register survey notes a 2-story log house from about 1819 still standing farther east on this boulevard.
The house came to the Kelleys in March 2012, bought through a land trust named Lady Luck rather than in their own names. The seller was a limited liability company.
County records date the transfer out of their hands to May 2017. The current roll splits the parcel at $1,816,400 in land and $2,645,400 in buildings.
Charles and Cassie spent the year before the sale remodeling, sharing kitchen and living room progress as it went. They sold off market, in the middle of Lady Antebellum's You Look Good tour.
Their first son, Ward, was born in Nashville on February 11, 2016, while they lived here. The couple had announced the pregnancy the previous August after years of fertility trouble.
