Gordon Ramsay's House

Los Angeles, CA

The Story

British chef with a string of Michelin-starred restaurants, and on American TV the host of Fox’s Hell’s Kitchen since 2005. MasterChef and Kitchen Nightmares made him a fixture of US prime time.

Ramsay’s purchase made news in January 2012, as MasterChef, filmed in Los Angeles, headed into its third season. Zillow’s blog called the move “a natural one” for a chef with that many US projects.

The house went up in 2003, designed by architect Ken Ungar with interiors by Carole Poet. Country & Town House says a Connecticut farmhouse inspired the look.

Bel Air Crest, the guard-gated enclave around the house, began selling custom-home lots in 1989, according to the LA Real Estate Agency. This one was built 14 years later.

The Los Angeles County Assessor still values the parcel from a 2012 base, the year Ramsay’s purchase was reported. No change of ownership has reset it since, the best public sign it has not been sold.

He shopped bigger first. JustLuxe reported in January 2012 that Ramsay had looked at an $18.75M estate the previous April before settling on this one.

A year after Ramsay’s purchase, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West went into contract on a home inside the same gated enclave, NBC News reported in January 2013.
