Gretchen Wilson's House

Country singer who took “Redneck Woman” to the top of the charts in 2004 and won a Grammy for it in 2005. She came up through MuzikMafia, the Nashville collective that launched Big & Rich.

Lebanon is named for the red cedars that once covered this county, most of them milled into pencil wood. Franklin Roosevelt approved a 1935 replanting project that put over 750,000 seedlings back in the ground.

Wilson County dates to 1799 and honors Revolutionary War veteran David Wilson, no relation. By 1875 its farms ranked first in Tennessee for wheat, sorghum, butter, and horses.

Gretchen landed on this 16.75-acre spread outside Lebanon in 2011, right after selling her 360-acre farm elsewhere in Wilson County. She ran her Redneck Records label from an office nook inside the house.

By 2016 she had bought another house closer to her daughter Grace’s music and drama school. She put this one up at $1.7M, down from an original $2.7M ask.

The sound studio behind its own separate entrance has walls a foot thick. Gretchen cut several albums in it and planned one last session for July 2016, even as the house went up for sale.

The estate changed hands in April 2021, nearly 5 years after first going up for sale. Within months Gretchen bought a smaller place in Lebanon, and by 2024 that one was on the market too.
