John Rich's House

John Rich is half of the country duo Big & Rich. He co-wrote Gretchen Wilson's “Redneck Woman” and sang lead on the duo's own hit “Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy),” both released in 2004.

Love Circle was called Bald Hill until 1926, when John Love sold the land to the city to build a reservoir. At 744 feet, it was the highest point in old Nashville.

Property listings date the mansion's construction to 2009, near the top of the reservoir hill the neighborhood is built around.

Rich already owned a smaller house next door when this one went up. He put that first place on the market in 2011 with a video plea asking a country fan to buy it.

Tour buses idling outside drew enough complaints that a Metro councilwoman introduced an ordinance in 2010. It banned buses and RVs over 24 feet from parking on Love Circle, school buses exempted.

Rich calls the third-floor stage and bar “the house that music built.” Its charity nights have raised more than $1M a year for 6 straight years for causes like St. Jude.
