O.J. Simpson's House (former)

NFL Hall of Famer who won the 1968 Heisman at USC and set a rushing record with the Buffalo Bills. In 1995 he was acquitted in Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman’s murder trial.

The mock-Tudor house that stood on this lot had a swimming pool fed by a waterfall, a tennis court, and separate guest quarters.

Financier Kenneth Abdalla bought the property in 1997 and had the house razed on July 29, 1998, sending every scrap to a landfill. A different house rose on the lot a few years later.

He bought the Rockingham Avenue property in 1977 for $650,000, near the peak of his playing career with the Bills.

He defaulted on the mortgage in 1997, the year a jury found him liable for $33.5 million in a wrongful death suit. It went to auction and sold back to the lender for $2.6 million.

A slow-speed chase that drew an estimated 95 million television viewers ended in the driveway here on June 17, 1994. He surrendered his gun to police after a phone negotiation, then was taken into custody.

One Brentwood neighbor said the demolition would finally “slow down the insane circus that Brentwood has been” since 1994.
