Stephen Curry's House (former)
Alamo, CA
The Story
Golden State Warriors point guard since 2009 and the NBA's all-time leader in 3-pointers made. He has won 4 championships and 2 MVP awards, the second of them the league's first unanimous pick, in 2016.
Alamo is still unincorporated, governed by Contra Costa County rather than a city hall. Its post office opened in 1852, making it the county's second-oldest town after Martinez.
Early settlers here farmed and ranched rather than subdividing, so speculators went to neighboring towns, historian Beverly Lane writes. The railroad arrived in 1891 after resident August Hemme talked barons Crocker and Huntington into it.
Steph and Ayesha Curry bought the gated estate in 2016, the same year they sold their house in Orinda. The Chronicle described it as a traditional brick house with gabled dormer windows.
The Currys remodeled in 2017 and rebuilt the kitchen around Ayesha's cooking, NBC Bay Area reported when the house came back on the market in 2022.
Steph added a barbershop with its own lighting and an outdoor putting green, KRON4 reported, and the kids got a custom horse-themed playhouse.
The Currys sold in early 2019 and paid $31M that June for an estate in Atherton, on the Peninsula. Curry still called the East Bay “our adopted home” in a Chronicle interview that July.
