T.D. Jakes's House

Bishop T.D. Jakes founded The Potter's House megachurch in Dallas in 1996, preached from its pulpit until 2025, and made the cover of Time in September 2001.

Meadowbrook, east of downtown Fort Worth, began as farms in the 1870s, named for meadows, spring-fed ponds, and creeks draining north to the Trinity River. It built out in the 1920s and the 1950s.

Tarrant County's roll puts the main tract at 17.8 acres, platted as Lot 4R of the Harris subdivision on land cut from the Culver survey. It dates the main house to 1995.

The county lists the owner of record as the Vandalia Revocable Trust, on a deed recorded in 2005. The same trust still holds it on the 2026 roll.

The adjoining tract carries its own 2005 deed, 5.4 acres with a house the district dates to 1984. Together the 2 parcels come to more than 23 acres.

Jakes sold a lakefront Dallas house in 2005 and moved west to Fort Worth. He kept the Dallas pulpit for 20 more years.

A heart attack hit Jakes mid-sermon in November 2024. He handed The Potter's House to his daughter Sarah Jakes Roberts and her husband, Touré Roberts, in 2025 and stayed on as board chairman.
