Thomas Rhett's House

Country singer whose “Die a Happy Man” held the top of Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart for 17 weeks. He is the son of Rhett Akins, a '90s country hitmaker turned hit songwriter.

Architect Bobby McAlpine and interior designer Ray Booth shaped the barn house and its lakeside guest cottage. Nashville Lifestyles walked the finished compound in October 2015, the year before Rhett bought it.

The 2-acre pond is man-made and was stocked with catfish, bass, bream, and crappie. 3 to 4 miles of graded trails thread the 126 acres, open to trucks, ATVs, and horses.

The farm became Rhett's in 2016, a weekend retreat about 30 minutes west of Nashville. He and his wife, Lauren Akins, later let Country Living inside and described a place built around “family togetherness.”

A fishing trip here with his daughters, small rigged reels and not a single bite, planted “Country Again,” his 2021 single about slowing down. Watching them, he said, was “what life's about.”

At the Narrows of the Harpeth outside Kingston Springs, the river bends back on itself. A 100-yard tunnel cut in 1818 with enslaved labor drove river water to Montgomery Bell's iron forge there.
