Elton John's House

Beverly Hills, CA

The Story

Elton John is the pianist behind “Your Song,” “Rocket Man,” and 5 decades of arena tours. Since 2012 this has been his Los Angeles base, the house he and husband David Furnish bought for their young family.

The county roll dates the house to 1966, on Lot 13 of Tract 24484, with a pool and central heat and no later effective-year reset. It sits inside Beverly Hills proper, not the Post Office zone.

Trousdale Estates was the Doheny Ranch orange groves until developer Paul Trousdale bought about 410 acres in 1955 and cut 532 lots. He named the streets after family, and Chalette Drive after his dog.

Allen Siple ran the architectural committee that vetted every design, with Wallace Neff and Harold Levitt among the early names. A 1987 ordinance wrote view protections into city law after remodels began blocking neighbors.

Elton and Furnish bought in 2012 and had designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard lacquer the walls white as a backdrop for Keith Haring, Damien Hirst, and Philip Taaffe. “Everything is centered around the art,” Elton told Architectural Digest.

In September 2021 the couple bought the 1968 house next door in an off-market deal with the neighbor. That took the grounds from about half an acre to nearly a full one.

Every Oscar night the family hosts the Elton John AIDS Foundation viewing party at West Hollywood Park, a short drive down the hill. The 2026 edition raised $10.6M for HIV prevention and treatment.
