Katy Perry's House (former)

Beverly Hills, CA

The Story

Katy Perry is the Santa Barbara pop singer whose 2010 album Teenage Dream sent 5 singles to number 1, a run no other woman has matched. She bought this house in 2017, a year before her first American Idol season.

The county roll dates the house to 1959, with an effective year of 2001 after later work, on a lot still described by survey bearings off Section 36. The zoning is City of Los Angeles, not Beverly Hills.

The guard-gated enclave off upper Coldwater Canyon is Beverly Hills by post office only. The 90210 ZIP reached this side of the city line in 1963, and residents get Los Angeles police and fire, not Beverly Hills.

Before Katy, the house belonged to Cody Leibel, heir to a Canadian homebuilding fortune, who bought it in October 2007. He listed it in 2009, when Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban made an offer and Lady Gaga looked.

Katy bought it from Leibel off market in April 2017, the same month she settled her 2-year fight over a Los Feliz convent. The flagstone drive runs about a quarter mile from the gate to the door.

When American Idol went remote in spring 2020, she judged from her living room here, once dressed as a life-size bottle of hand sanitizer. Daughter Daisy was born that August.

She listed it in March 2022 with Brett Lawyer of Hilton & Hyland and closed that August at the price she paid in 2017. Her 1960 guesthouse down the street, sold in 2021, relisted in June 2026.
