Keith Urban & Nicole Kidman's House (former)
Franklin, TN
The Story
Keith Urban, the New Zealand-born, Australia-raised country hitmaker behind “Somebody Like You,” and Nicole Kidman, the Oscar winner from The Hours, married in Sydney in June 2006 and settled around Nashville.
They pieced this farm together in 2 transactions in 2007, close to 36 acres behind a gate. A drive winds through woods and rolling pasture before the farmhouse shows itself.
The first home Urban and Kidman owned together. They held it for 11 years, through the births of both daughters.
A traditional-looking red-brick house from the outside: inside, a vaulted family room, a glassed breezeway to the private wing, and a separate cottage nearby for guests and a caretaker.
The farm sits on Old Hillsboro Road, which runs southwest to Leiper’s Fork, a late-1790s settlement of Revolutionary War land-grant families, now a historic district 1 mile east of the Natchez Trace Parkway.
These were the years Kidman later pointed to: after daughter Sunday’s 2008 birth, living on the farm, she felt “pretty much done” with acting until her mother nudged her back.
Selling took patience. The farm was on and off the market for more than 2 years, the ask starting at $3.45M and stepping down before the 2018 sale.
