Ryan Seacrest's House (former)

Beverly Hills, CA

The Story

Ryan Seacrest hosted American Idol from its 2002 debut, took over Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve in 2012, and replaced Pat Sajak on Wheel of Fortune in 2024. He still counts down American Top 40 every week.

Buff & Hensman, the Pasadena modernists who built for Steve McQueen and Frank Sinatra, designed the single-story main house for actor Laurence Harvey. The county assessor dates it to 1963, with a 1985 effective year marking a major remodel.

The compound is 3 parcels of Tract 13101: a 1.75-acre main lot, a 1954 house next door, and a third lot the assessor now carries with no structure. That empty lot is where Ellen DeGeneres put a pond.

Joan Collins lived here during her Dynasty years, and Will & Grace co-creator Max Mutchnick had it by the early 2000s. He sold to DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi in 2007 after inviting them over to watch American Idol.

Seacrest bought the estate from DeGeneres and de Rossi in May 2012, 7 months after Westside Estate Agency began shopping it quietly. The couple had married on the grounds in August 2008.

A fire broke out here at about 1:27 am on a Sunday night in February 2017. Seacrest posted on Instagram that everyone was fine and thanked the Beverly Hills firefighters who put it out.

He put the estate up for sale at $85M in 2020, cut the ask 4 times, and closed on November 7, 2022. LAmag named the all-cash buyers as Attentive founder Brian Long and journalist Liz Day.
