Simon Cowell's House (former)
Beverly Hills, CA
The Story
Simon Cowell is the English record executive who judged Pop Idol from 2001, American Idol from 2002 to 2010, and America’s Got Talent from 2016. He founded Syco in 2005.
The county assessor dates the house to 1985 and gives it a 2006 effective year, its marker for a major remodel. The Real Deal reported the same 1985 build year.
The parcel is Lot 15 in Block 98 of the Beverly Hills tract, plus a strip cut from Lot 14 next door. It runs 137 feet wide and 261 feet deep.
Beverly Hills was a lima bean field until oil speculators drilled for crude in 1900, struck water instead, and renamed the tract in 1906. Wilbur Cook’s 1907 plan put the larger lots on the north side.
Cowell brought in London designers March & White in 2015 to turn a bachelor pad into a family home. The Hollywood Reporter named Jennifer Lopez as the seller.
He paid $8M for the property in 2004 and sold it off market in August 2020, days after breaking his back in an electric bike crash near his Malibu house.
The house never went on the open market. The Beverly Hills investor who bought it from Cowell flipped it in 2023 for $33.6M, among the priciest deals ever closed south of Sunset.
