Taylor Swift's House

Taylor Swift was 14 when her family moved to Hendersonville, north of Nashville, so she could chase a record deal. She has since won 14 Grammy Awards, 4 for Album of the Year.

The estate has a name: Northumberland. It was Guilford Dudley Jr.’s, and his widow, Jane, sold it to Luke Lewis, the executive who ran Universal Music’s Nashville labels.

The county assessor dates the main house to 1964 and records it as a one-story frame house on 5.7 acres, inside the Forest Hills tax district.

Metro’s address file gives the barns their own street numbers, labeled “front barn” and “rear barn,” separate from the one on the main house.

Swift’s deed on the place dates to June 2011. The assessor’s sales history records no transfer between hers and the 2004 sale, so Lewis held it right up to her purchase.

Dudley ran Life and Casualty Insurance and served as Nixon’s ambassador to Denmark. He is the reason the 31-floor L&C Tower went up downtown in 1957.

Jane Dudley founded the Swan Ball in 1963 to raise money for Cheekwood. It is still Nashville’s premier social event.
