Taylor Swift's House

Taylor Swift broke through as a teenage country act in 2006 and became the first artist to win the Grammy for album of the year 4 times. Her Eras Tour grossed more than any tour before it.

The building went up in 1882 as stores and lofts for Augustus Beckstein, to a neo-Grec design by George DaCunha. The city's landmarks survey names John Keleher as its builder.

After an 1895 fire, Franklin Baylies rebuilt the main front in 1902 to match the building's secondary facade. It sits in the Tribeca West Historic District and runs the full depth of the block.

Swift bought the top of the building in 2014 from Peter Jackson, director of the Lord of the Rings films, as 2 adjoining penthouses. Robb Report says they were joined into a single duplex with a billiards room.

Swift kept buying on the block. She added the townhouse next door in 2017 and a smaller apartment lower in this building months later, and 6sqft put her total for the block at $47.7M.

City permits filed in 2018 and 2019 opened an interior passage between the townhouse and this building, and added a residential loading area on the townhouse's ground floor. The city signed off on the work by February 2021.

Tribeca Citizen checked city finance records in September 2025 and found no sale at either building. The check followed a tip that valued Swift's Tribeca compound at $48M.

Tribeca West became a city historic district on May 7, 1991, the first of 4 Tribeca districts named by the end of 1992. The area's warehouse and loft blocks had started drawing artists in the 1970s.
